Celebrating with Stories

At The Ghosh Center, we’re always marking milestones. When a patient completes treatment, we celebrate with bell-ringing and hugs (and often a few happy tears). We just commemorated our five-year anniversary, made especially meaningful by our national top 1% ranking for patient experience. And we recently put on our dancing shoes for the silver anniversary of the Linn American Cancer Society Gala.

Committed to Fighting Cancer

As a presenting sponsor of the gala, we deepened our commitment to funding the fight against cancer. And we shared the results of our work right here at home, not with statistics or speeches, but with stories from the people who matter most – our patients.

Ralph and Linda Palmer took the stage to talk about their experiences with cancer and the important work of The American Cancer Society and The Ghosh Center. Both Ralph and Linda are dedicated to raising awareness, funding research and finding a cure.

Perspectives from Our Patients

That night, we also showed a video featuring conversations with patients: Pat, who talked about being a survivor; Annette, who’s come back twice from cancer; Kristin, who emphasized the importance of being positive. Jeff told us how his life was changed for the better; Scott learned to slow down and appreciate the support of friends. From Gary, we heard all the ways people prayed for him; Paulette had words of wisdom from Dr. Ghosh.

Amy talked about the importance of a sense of humor and the ability to laugh at herself. In the photo above, she’s all smiles after winning a fun game at the festivities.

The video opens with our own Laurie Plante, who’s not only a cancer nurse in our clinic, but also a cancer survivor. Laurie knows firsthand the value of patients taking an active role in their care and helps them do so every day.
