Gratitude makes you feel good inside. But did you also know it has physical benefits?
Gratitude is the process of acknowledging the goodness in your life. When you’re aware of your blessings – people you love, activities you enjoy, a connection with a higher power – you naturally feel a deeper sense of contentment. This, in turn, leads to better health and well-being.
When you feel better emotionally, you manage stress more effectively. Because you know what matters most in life, you’re more resilient in the face of disappointment and adversity. People who are grateful often report better sleep, improved energy and enhanced quality of life.
Make Gratitude a Habit
You can cultivate gratitude by following some simple practices:
Write Thank-You Notes
Express your appreciation and nurture your relationships by writing quick thank-you notes. Although everyone loves to get cards in the mail, if you’re pressed for time, it’s okay to thank someone by email or text. What matters is the gratitude.
Prayers of thanksgiving are central to many religions. When you pray, begin with what you’re thankful for. You may find that your prayers of praise and thanks outnumber your prayers of supplication.
Count Your Blessings
When you turn in, think of at least three good things that happened during the day. Say them out loud. Naming your blessings helps calm your mind and ease you into peaceful slumber.
What We’re Thankful For
At The Ghosh Center, we have so many reasons to be grateful. Paramount among them are our patients and their families. We’re privileged to walk with you through hardship and joy, laughter and tears.
As we head into Thanksgiving, we’re naming some of our blessings out loud and sharing them with you.
I am thankful for the blessing of times with family and friends.
I am thankful for my husband, who helps me manage our perfectly imperfect chaos. I am thankful for my kiddos, who each keep me on my toes and laughing every day. I am thankful to for my Ghosh Center family, who go above and beyond daily and pour their heart and soul into making a difference in people’s lives.
This year I am thankful for new adventures, new friends, love and happiness.
I am thankful for good health, my family, and God’s love.
I have so much to be thankful for… a loving and supportive husband, children that keep me on my toes, a cozy home and a career that allows me to fulfill my purpose in life. I am most thankful for family, especially after losing some of the most important members this past year.
